2024 renovation trends – year in review

2024 was a busy year for The Home Decores – we were pleased to complete a variety of projects for our customers with results that we were all satisfied with.

In 2024 we took more time to take up and exchange feedback from our customers to find that other Sydnesider who would like to expand their home would find the side of the home owner as interesting as hearing from us as designers and building contractors.

As well as help to contribute our website and our website and to add useful information and Social media via video interviews, presented projects And Client testimonialsThis feedback made it possible for us to “check” Sense check and to secure our assumptions about the emerging trends of 2024.

Rental market renovation home

We have written about it in recent years Multi -generation houses – A general trend that saw a young family with children who expanded their home to welcome parents so that they could take care of them at the age of age.

What we saw in 2024 was almost the other way around: older parents – in retirement or near the retirement – ADDBUILD approached to expand their house in order to normally accommodate a son or daughter and her young family.

The cause: a rental market that rated many people and due to rising rents of the term.

Families with young children want to settle down, get to know and be part of a neighborhood and be sure that the children can go to the same school for a number of successive years.

For the older parents who expand their home, there was the additional advantage of being. closer to their grandchildrenAnd for the young parents who have additional help to look after the children of people whom they can completely trust.

Do not postpone an option

The continuing strength of the market purchase market was another driver for the renovation work at home.

More than a family that approached The Home Decores had investigated that they sold their house to buy something bigger, but they meant high prices and limited stocks that they spend hours spending hours looking and nowhere to get.

After they had taken into account the costs for the move, with stamp tax increasing a constantly growing piece with rising real estate prices, it also made financial sense to expand the house in which they were and to compensate for the costs of building the increased value of their house.

Home Office – a change in the emphasis

After more people return to work from their company’s office, the home office is not as much a focus as immediately during and after Covid.

However, many people still work from home at least part of the week and they have not forgotten the distractions of too many people at home who work without separation.

So we see larger bedrooms in which children enable space to learn, as well as rooms that are created or converted into small home offices, as well as study or office corners that are carefully placed in quieter areas of the house.

Energy -saving measures

Since energy supply calculations want to remain high, the homeowners take the opportunity to include a great renovation to save money by reducing their paid energy consumption.

This requires a number of different shapes whether the use of thermally efficient building materials using double glazing or installing solar is used for energy and hot water production.

Linking a solar system with a home battery is more common than before, especially since people go back to the office and reduce the need for electricity in daylight.
