The notorious feature wall has always been a much discussed topic in the world of interiors. I have to admit that I am not a big fan of the accent walls of the early 2000s with the dark red or wallpapered chimney breast. But there is a time and a place for you and I think accent walls can be timeless if they are done correctly. Feature walls have achieved a bit of comeback in recent years, but they look a little different (I dare to say better). Now that I have 5 feature walls (yes, that’s right!) In our house, I consider myself an expert on this topic. Until recently, I was a beginner of wallpaper and the accent walls made it possible for me to really loosen into the world of wallpaper. In fact, my next project is to wallpaper an entire room. The old I would have hated this idea. I think I try to say that accent walls helped me to get out of my comfort zone and make my house much more interesting.
Choose a wall painting

If you want to be on the safe side, choose a mural. They are like wallpaper, except that wall paintings are more like works on paper. There are no repeat patterns and the pattern is more unique and varies over its surface. For me, murals such as a modern, updated wallpaper version are. You can either mix them in or let them notice. Most of our accent walls are murals, so you can certainly say that I am a little biased. I think you work particularly well with contemporary interior.
Mix it
In clouds wall painting by photowall
Sometimes you may want a more subtle mural, especially in a bedroom. The cloud wall image of photowall is very comforting and peaceful to look at. My oldest daughter loves pastel colors. So it was an obvious choice to choose a similar color for the walls. And since the bunk bed takes a lot of the wall, it made sense to use similar colors. A cloud wall image increases every room and gives it a dreamy feeling and brings a natural atmosphere of calm and zen. We also opted for a vinyl finish because this is a children’s room. I love this mural as on the day we installed it and my daughter loves it too. It is really a timeless choice and one that she will enjoy for many, many years.
Choose a large pattern

The great thing about murals is that you can have tailor -made to fit your wall. Large patterns work much better with a large accent wall than the repeat patterns that you can find in regular wallpapers. It makes them look much more like art as if they were drawn by hand. Unfortunately I don’t have the budget for hand -drawn wallpaper, but the prints are so realistic these days that they really cannot see the difference. The quality and thickness of the paper is also important. The thicker, the better in my opinion! Larger patterns give a feeling of the drama and enable them to play with the proportions of the room. I also find larger patterns much more visually interesting in a large room.
Paint it
Lacquered feature walls can also be nice. Just think carefully about what you want to achieve. Our living room accent wall is a perfect example of how less is more. It mixes seamlessly into the decor and the metallic color gives elegance a touch of elegance. Venetian plaster, Limewash And concrete effect Colors I have been trendy for some time. However, you can apply difficult. You may also want to avoid areas with high traffic with such surfaces because you are more difficult to improve. But if it is done correctly, stone and concrete effect colors are absolutely noticeable and give your room a nice texture.
Take risks

If you consider a feature wall, you are not afraid to take a few risks. The great thing about accent walls is that you can easily repeat the wall when you are bored. Just take a few risks and become creative! I am of course very risk -avers, but when it comes to decoration, it always paid off. It’s all about personal taste. Choose what your heart sings. Your feature wall should make you happy every time you look at it. So don’t be satisfied with less.
