The cabinets are painted! (Besides why I didn’t spray the cupboards and why I do not use a clear cover coat)

Last night I cleared one of the most important hurdles in this walk -in cabinet project. The cupboards are painted! This was a big job with all these shelves, but it is finally finished and I can go on with the next step in this cabinet project.

So they turned out …

I took all of these pictures with the wide -angle setting on my phone, which makes the room look larger (longer) than it really is. I mean, the room is not tiny. It is 11’4 “wide and 15,10” long, but the wide angle distorts it a little. A wide angle is the only way I can get all the cupboards in the photo.

The color is Sherwin Williams inadle breeze, which is a very light blue with a touch of green in it. I think Green prevents it from looking like a blue that belongs in a baby’s room. I used your Emerald Urethane trim in a Satinian finish.

This room still has terrible lighting (only the only light on the ceiling fan), so I am sure that it looks much better when I have finally installed the new lighting in the room. I will replace the ceiling fan with a chandelier and then add at least five recessed lights and accent lighting with four wall lights in the room.

I planned to make the soils from tomorrow morning, but I think I changed my plan. Instead, I will work on the lighting tomorrow. Since I have to cut holes into the ceiling dry wall, this will be a very chaotic and dusty project, so I want to do it before I start on the floors. In this way I can also have the blanket painted before I do the floors, which in my opinion makes much more sensible.

In addition, it would be really nice to see this cabinet in good lighting and to have much better lighting if I continue with the other projects that need to be carried out.

Anyway, I am very happy about this huge project that stands out my list for this room. Obviously, these perimeter cabinets were most of this closet, so it was a corner. I still have a very long list of things that have to be made here (which I shared in yesterday’s post), but the rest will be a simple jogging for the finish line in comparison.

How I painted my closet cabinets

To paint these cupboards, I used a brush to cut all corners and paint the cladding. You can see this in this photo that I shared yesterday.

I made two color coats, and as soon as I made the first coat, the color was dry enough to start with the second layer. I did the entire cutting and the trim remark with both color men before I painted the rest.

And then I painted all the large, flat surfaces with a 6-inch roller that was marked for smooth surfaces.

Why I didn’t spray my cupboards

The main reason why I didn’t spray it was that I ended the cupboards in a very piece. And I did it that way because I work like that. I don’t always do things in the order in which you are most sensible, or in the order that is most efficient. I work in a order that interests me, motivated and progresses.

When I sanded and sanded the cupboards on the right side of the room, I was ready to keep painting. I didn’t want to wait until I ended the priming, sealing and grinding on the left side of the room. And then, when I got two color coats on the first two cupboards on the right side of the room, I endeavored to get and search for the wallpaper. Under no circumstances could I have done this outside the order if I sprayed my cupboards. But that is the order in which I needed and wanted it for my own peace of mind. I didn’t want to get stuck in the primer, the sealing and the loop level for a few more days without seeing that some of the pretty things were finally done. I needed this mental break from the everyday tasks, and I saw myself even more to motivate the pretty wallpaper and shining to finish the other side of the room.

It is definitely not the most efficient way to do it, but since I do the whole work myself, I have to do what I have to do to keep me motivated.

Will I be clear to coat the cupboards?

If you have been here for a long time, you know that I would like to use a clear top coat for cupboards and furniture that has been painted with latex paint. But this time I won’t do that. For the first time I have Sherwin Williams Emerald Paint in a satin finish and it is perfect in itself. The color us and the finish is beautiful. No clear top coat is required at all.

In the past, I used clear top coats for two reasons: (1) to increase colors of lower quality, and (2) to put the shine down on color that is too shiny for my taste.

The first reason is why I always used a clear cover lacquer when I have painted cupboards or furniture with Behr color. Behr color always seems to keep a slight stickiness in the finish as if it never dries completely. So when I paint bookshelves or a credit top with Behr and then place articles on the shelves or the Credenka top, stick. To prevent this, I always used a clear cover lacquer that took care of the problem and expanded the finish durability.

The second reason is why I used a clear cover lacquer, even if I used an expensive and high -quality color (Benjamin Moore Advance) on my kitchen cabinets. The lowest shine in the color in advance was still far too shiny for my taste. That is why I have it with general high -performance top coat in a flat finish. It frustrated me to spend so much for a high quality color just to clarify them, but that sheen was just too much for me.

But the emerald color is durable and the satin finish is beautiful. For the first time in a long time I won’t use a clear cover lacquer. I was sold in a satin finish on emerald -urethane color. I will use this color for all of my cabinet and furniture projects in the future.
