To get started, you need foam footballs from the dollar business.
First we will create the mouth of the Venus fly trap. For this you can use the sound, white plastic or even white foam to cut out some jagged little teeth. If you use sound, let them dry completely so that they harden.
While your teeth dry, grab a sharp knife or an X-Acto blade and cut a wedge out of the foam ball to form your open mouth.
The next step is to paint these footballs a living green. I recommend using craft color and doing this by hand, as some spray colors can be hard on foam. If you prefer to use spray paint for a more smooth finish, it is a good idea to first carry out a quick spot test.
Now it is time to add further painting details to your taste, including painting a dark red or black painting to give it a little depth and an eerie look. Let everything dry completely.
To end it, use a spit or a wire stem into the football base to create the stem of the system. If you leave old flower stems lying around, you can also use them – simply exchange the flower head for your newly produced Venus fly trap.
You can also add small extras here, Kimberly added the dialect and some gemstones to the pot.
Assign your creepy creation in a saucepan and attach it with dirt, sand or plaster from Paris to keep them stable. You can also use Florist Foam to keep everything in place. And that’s it – you are done! This DIY Venus fly trap is ready to be the star of your Halloween decor.
