Kitchen cabinets follow standard dimensions that simplify the planning, installation and adaptation of the devices. This guide includes the most common sizes for base, wall, high and oven cabinets in living kitchens.

Basic cabinets

The basic cabinets are typically 34.5 inches high and 24 inches deep. 21-inch depths are used in smaller kitchens. The latitudes range from 12 to 48 inches in 3-inch steps, with 30 inches, 33 inches and 36 inches most common.

Wall cabinets

The wall cabinets are available in standard heights of 30 inches, 36 inches or 42 inches. The depth is usually 12 “but 24” is used via the refrigerators. The latitudes range from 12 to 36 inches. Install 18 inches above the worktop or 54 inches from the floor.


High cupboards

Measure high cupboards 84 “, 90” or 96 “and are usually 24” deep. Enlarged pantry options use 12 inches. The latitudes include 12 “, 18”, 24 “, 30”, 33 “and 36”.


Oven cabinets

Oven cabinets are as large as an integrated ovens or microwaves. They are 27 “to 29” high, 22 to 24 “deep and 24”, 27 “, 30” or 33 “wide.


Measurement guidelines

Measure the outer width, the depth and the height of each closet. Add 1 “for the box thickness and 0.5” for the freezing freedom. Leave at least 40 inches between cupboards and kitchen islands.
