I have to admit that the decision with which color I should paint the washing and dryer cabinets with which I really had to fight yesterday. And when I asked this question to all of you, I thought the answer was clear, but it really wasn’t. There was a crowd favorite, but it was certainly not a 90/10 or even 80/20. It was more 55/45 in favor of the light blue. Here were the two options I presented.
I started the day pretty much in “Team Dark Blue”. My mother was dark. Other members of my family, the weighed, were Team Dark. Of course I went with …
… the light blue.
The dark blue seemed to bring in just a number of other problems. If I were dark blue, what color would I paint the baseboards around the washing and dryer cabinets? And if I would paint the baseboards around the dark blue of the washing machine and the dryer, many people suggested that I also had to paint the baseboard under the window, the dark blue that would throw off the continuity of the entire room in my head.
And then when this baseboard became dark blue, others suggested that the crown shape and the window cladding should be dark blue, while others suggested that it must be white. In the end, I just decided to adhere to my original plan and to carry the light blue to the entire room and on the entire cladding.
I still have to add the tiny shoe stripes in which the cupboards hit the wallpaper wall and also hit the washing machine and the dryer cabinets onto the wallpaper wall. I will do that at the same time, and I add the shoe formula around the baseboards to the rest of the cupboards.
But let me tell you that I have to struggle with this decision. At some point I even removed the worktop on the wash cabinet and went back to the idea of turning a worktop out of the remaining hardwood floor. I thought I only needed something to break the sea from light blue. But that didn’t look directly at my eye either, so I put the fixed worktop back on (which then transferred again, filled wood and had to be sanded again) and glued with the original plan.
But the main comments that influenced me came from those of them who said that the dark blue cupboards made it look like I had just put my dark blue washing machine and dryer there without closets around them. And if that’s the look I wanted, why did I bother to build cupboards at all?
And when I compared the two options side by side, it looked exactly the same. And that’s not the look I wanted. I think the light blue makes it clear that the devices are in custom -made cupboards that have been built for them. That is The look I wanted. And in the end I have to say that I really love the coherent appearance of the light blue on all cupboards and all rooms.
I also decided to bring the original color back that I had here and I love the look! I love the warmth that the wood tone comes in, and with all the additional light that I added to the room, it doesn’t look too dark for me. In fact, it is almost the same color as the woven laundry that I bought, as well as the baskets I bought to go to the shelves on the opposite wall. (Yes, I bought ten baskets! Someone sent me a link to the perfect baskets and I grabbed them as soon as possible. So far I have only received two of the ten.)
This is a top -down/bottom -up color, fully lined color that can offer complete privacy. I will also add privacy to the window so that I can still have some privacy when the shadow is open to give the room sunlight.
Another reason why I decided to go on the cupboards with the light blue is that I made a big decision yesterday. I won’t paint the island of Hellblau. When I decided to paint the island the same light blue as the rest of the cupboards, I was not loyal to myself. I tried to please others. But that’s My Wardrobe. I will be the one who uses it and see every day. The only person who has to smile when they go in here is.
I am not entirely ready to share the color that I still selected because I am still not 100% sure. I have an idea and I tested it on the island, but I am not ready for the entry at that time. Therefore it is covered up. But when I finally decided to stay true to myself and bring in an accent color on the middle island, I made the final decision to stick to the light blue washing machine/dryer cabinets, worktops and trim trains. With this accent color in the middle, I needed everything else to the extent of the room (with the exception of the wallpaper and the fronts of the washing machine and the dryer, which insert themselves with the wallpaper in my eye) to have the same color.
I have a friend in the city today and she will be here until Friday, so my work in this room can slow down a little. Or I can bring her to work. But I hope that until the end of the weekend I can finish the island for its great unveiling early next week. So stay tuned!
