My somewhat humiliating (and funny) experience

Well, yesterday he didn’t go quite as planned yesterday. My floors in the bedroom suite are still not completely finished, but they are nearby! I only have one step to take and then you will be ready. But let me start at the beginning and share the good, the bad and humiliation of yesterday.

Yesterday morning I showed you what our hardwood floors from Red Oak looked like after I have the dark finish with the drum grinder and the edge grinder for three days, more detailed grinding and scratches to tear down the finish around the door posts and corners, and then remove a layer of Bona Naturala.

My plan for yesterday was to make the first coat of the Clear coat of Bona trade in the early morning and make a second coat in the early afternoon (since each coat dries in about two hours). Then I took a break and an early dinner with a friend, and on the way home I rent at Home Depot to rent a buffer so that I could buff the floor before adding the third and last layer with clear coat. I was pretty confident that I would have finished the ground when I went to bed.

The first coat went as planned. The second coat went as planned. The rental of the buffer was as planned.

I came home with the buffer around 7:45 p.m. and estimated that I would take about an hour to polish the ground, about 30 minutes to carry out a final vacuuming eye on the floor, and about 40 minutes to apply the last coat. I would be ready at 10:00 or 10:30 a.m. at the latest. That seems to be a reasonable plan, right? Incorrect.

I brought the buffer into it, integrated it and the attachments to go and ready, and then my plan went sideways. Have you ever used these machines? Oh my God. How is it possible to do everything in the world?! I can imagine that it is probably easier to use with a wet application, but how is it possible to use this for a dry application that I had to do?

I had seen a YouTube video from someone who used this exact machine (but he used it with water and foam when used wet), and they warned that they had to take some time to get used to it. They warned that it could take a few attempts to find out and it is best to start in the middle of a large room. So I did that. I started directly in the middle of the bedroom, pressed the button onto the side, stirring me as far as possible to push back against the strength that I was expecting from the spinblock, and then pressed the handles so that the buffer started to turn.

Within a fraction of the second, the buffer seemed to have flown over the floor and the side wall from the middle of the room, to pull myself behind it in order to stick to life for love and to hit a hole in the drywound.

The crazy thing is that your natural instinct and your reflex, when a large machine gets out of control, holds even more closely to control it. But keeping more firmly means pressing the handles even harder, and that only makes the buffer faster! It seems completely counterintuitive to let go of the handles and let go completely when it comes away from them, especially if their reflexes tell them that they should take care of themselves.

So I tried it again. And again. And again. I probably tried ten times and it didn’t get any better. No matter how closely I held or how much I administered myself, I couldn’t get the buffer to stay in one place. It was physically impossible for me, the buffer every time I started flying it over the floor.

After the tenth attempt, I finally gave up when he left this bright curved brand on the floor.

I don’t know if you can see it, but I can and it frustrates the rear of me. The good news is that when this brand shows after the last clear coat, at least under the carpet of the region.

Overall, it took about ten minutes to realize that this would simply not happen. There was no way that this buffer machine and I would get along. I am a fairly stubborn and determined woman, but I fought a machine that was even more stubborn and was determined that I was, and even with all the strength I could raise, I was not good. So about ten minutes after I unloaded it from the van and thrown into the bedroom, I rolled up the cord, turned him back to the van and went back to the home depot.

I couldn’t help but laugh when the man who had just rented the buffer to me and saw how I rolled this machine back into the rent department. He didn’t even react, almost as if he had expected me. I just laughed and said: “I’m not even nearly strong enough to use this machine.” He grinned at me and said: “I thought it could be a problem for her.” Pooh. Why didn’t he warned me? I mean, I know why he didn’t do it. He couldn’t. Nowadays it is not exactly acceptable for a man to a woman: “I don’t think you can use it.” But I wish he could have told me that before I wasted time to rent it, pull it home, hole holes in the wall, leave markings on the floor and pull this machine back to the home depot.

I had it for such a short time that he was so friendly to only invalidate the rental agreement and to refund the rental fee. The entire humiliating experience therefore only cost me the $ 10 that I wasted on the buffer cushion, and the hour that I wasted on two trips to the Home Depot.

I laughed until I poured tears over my face when he handed over the incredible contract, and I saw that …

Yes, that’s right. It was a half -day rent. Actual time? 19 minutes. Oh my god, I laugh just so hard that I can hardly see through my tears. I am pretty sure that I had it longer because the trip from our house to Home Depot is about 12-15 minutes. Simply driving with the buffer and then returning, it would have been 25 to 30 minutes. Maybe he popped it a little because it must be below a certain period to relieve it. I’m not sure. If this is the case, I am very grateful that he had pity with me. But it is still so funny, a little embarrassing to see that in the rental agreement.

But I still had to grind the floor in front of the last coat because the floor was too rough to put on the last coat without grinding. So I made the whole thing with my little 5-inch grinder and 220 bodies grinding wheels.

It didn’t actually take that long. I think I sanded the whole floor in all three areas in about an hour and 15 minutes. That is not bad. But I didn’t have time to make the last coat with a clear coat that lasts the night. I have to be finished today. Yesterday I didn’t quite finish how I had planned, but at least I learned something (this lesson was that I couldn’t use a floor buffer), and I got a good laugh from the deal.

In other messages I took the chance and ordered the fourth cabinet rod that I needed in another Amazon business. It fit perfectly, and this time I managed to cut it to the right length, so at least it happened.
